Im Zuge der fortscheitenden Virtualisierung ist ein noch neuer Trend (2010) die sog. Virtuelle Applikation. Für end End-Anwender ist das ähnlich wie eine PortableApplication, aber in eine Virtualisierungs-Infrastruktur gestellt.
