Nokia N8

Seit Januar 2011 habe als Firmentelefon ein Nokia N8. Das ist ein SmartPhone mit Symbian (Series 60, 3rd edition) als Betriebssystem. Eigentlich wollte ich ein Smartphone mit Android haben (z.B. Samsung Galaxy), das hat die Firma aber nicht genehmigt, weil da angeblich bestimme Enterprise-Funktionen (genannt wird: ActiveSync Remote Wipe) nicht möglich sind.

Positive Merkmale des Nokia N8

• Binmdschirm: OLED kapazitativ
• Interner Speicher: 16 GB
• USB Host-Funktion über USB OTG
• GPS

Negative Merkmale des Nokia N8

• Soft-Tastatur arbeitet ausschiesslich im "Telefon-Modus" d.h. mit Mehrfachdrücken der Ziffernteasten. Das ist für mich ein ganz schwerwiegendes Minus gegenüber Android, wo die Soft-Tastatur eine volle quasi Schreibmaschinentastatur ist...
  • Wenn man das Gerät quer (Landscape) hält, bekommt man die Schreibmaschinentastatur!
• Der Touch Screen reagiert zu empfindlich. Ohne ersichtlichen Grund werden irgendwelche Funktionen aktiviert...

WLAN beim Nokia N8

Für das Verbinden mit dem WLAN meiner Firma muss WPA2 Enterprise unterstützt werden.

Das neue WPA2 unterstützt fünf verschiedene EAP-Methoden (Extensible Authentication Protocol):

EAP-PSK

PSK bedeutet "Pre Shared Key" iund ist nur für den privaten Bereich gedacht

EAP-TLS

Ist für den Enterprise-Einsatz gedacht, benötigt aber Certificates nicht nur auf der Server-Seite(RADIUS),sondern auch auf jedem Client, was extrem unpraktikabel ist.

EAP-TTLS

Ist für den Enterprise-Einsatz gedacht, kein Client-Side Certificate, aber nicht direkt Microsoft-unterstützt

EAP-PEAP

Ist für den Enterprise-Einsatz gedacht, kein Cleint-Side Certificate und Microsoft-unterstützt (MSCHAPv2)

EAP-SIM

Das gibt es auch noch

Auf dem Nokia N8 muss man dafür einen neuen Access Point einrichten:

• Taste: "Menue"
• Auswahl: "Stettings"
• Auswahl: "Connectivity"
• Auswhal: "Settings"
• Auswahl: Destinations
• Auswahl: + Access Point (bzw. "Internet", wenn der Accesspoint schon grundsätzlich vorhanden ist...)
  • Automatically Check for access points: NO
  • Select access point: WLAN
  • WLAN name: SSID of your hidden WLAN
• Für nachträglichen Ändern der Sicherheitseinstellungen (nachdem der zusätzliche Access Point eingerichtet wurde)
  • Select: Settings > Connectivity > Settings > Destinations > Internet
  • Tap on your Internet access point
  • Tap on: "WLAN security settings"
  • Tap on: "EAP plug-in settings"
  • Activate: EAP-TLS, EAP-SIM, EAP-AKA, EAP-PEAP, EAP-TTLS, EAP-LEAP, EAP-FAST
  • On the screnn with the heading EAP-TLS settings click on the little triangle top right (left to the battery symbol)
    • On EAP-FAST, EAP-TTLS, EAP-PEAP, activate EAP-MSCHAPv2

The company I work at has a WPA2 Enterprise wifi, MSCHAPv2 authentication with no authentication certificate. 
I cannot connect my Nokia N8, the respons is "Auhtentication failed"
Some of my  colleagues have Android phones and they  have no problems connecting. 

Settings on my Nokia N8 are: 
WLAN Security Settings: 
WPA/WPA2 - EAP 

EAP Plugin Settings 

Allow EAP-TTLS 
Personal Certificate - not defined 
Authority Certificate - not defined 
User Name - user defined 
Realm In Use -Domain\username 
Realm 

EAP-MSCHAPv2 
User Name - username 
Prompt Password - Yes 
Password - **** 

Anyone have a solution on how to connect a Nokia phone to a WPA2 Enterprise with no authentication certificate?

think I found the place to set this "EAP-MSCHAPv2 settings":

Settings -> Connectivity -> Settings -> Destinations -> Internet (access points) -> "your" access point -> WLAN security setting -> EAP plug-in settings -> EAP-TTLS
(or as in my case EAP-PEAP) -> and now it comes:

in the upper right corner there it says "Settings" next to it is a little arrow (close to the battery status). 
You have to click on this little arrow and then you enter an additional panel where you can access "EAP-MSCHAPv2" :smileyhappy:
